In the past, I never put much thought into it but through the years I've seen some pretty incredible things, like Brad's trip for example. So a new goal I would like to set for myself is to either join a group or travel with friends overseas to help those less fortunate. Whether it's helping build shelters, providing food or spending some time with families to see their struggles and what I could do to help them.
This is still a new goal of mine but it is one of those things I'd like to do before I die.

Future goal.
I would definitely love to help our future generations. As mentioned before, I would love to have a career where I work with children. It is important to have children succeed in schol and be able to enjoy their childhood. If I could, I would open a school that has an art center that really encourages kids to be creative. This would be a school open to both fortunate and less fortunate kids.
This school would also have a counseling center. Because I work with a student who has an Emotional Disability I find it heart breaking to hear how down he is on himself. I don't know the right things to say to make him feel better. With this counseling center, these kids can go and talk to the trained staff to help cheer them up and work through whatever problem they are facing.

What I have done in the past.
During my Junior and Senior years of high school I participated in a program called Excel Tutoring. This was a program meant to help students in grades one through six who had diffculties with math and reading. At first I joined this program because I needed extra credit for a class, after all it was held Saturday mornings (who wants to get up early on a Saturday??) but once I got the hours I needed I didn't want to stop going. I had worked with the same girl every Saturday I was there and it was a life changing experience.
I always knew I loved working with kids because I was baby sitter, but after really sitting down and doing school work with this girl, I felt that it was something I could see myself doing over the next few years. Now, I'm currently an Education major and hope to either become a teacher or something where I work with kids.
I currently volunteer at an elementary school once a week in the morning. It is probably one of the best feelings in the world for me to come into the classroom and have the students run up to me with their arms wide open, screaming "Miss Michelle is here!"
